Brooke Hein, AMFT
Psychotherapist
(She/Her)
I’m a queer cis therapist located in the San Francisco Bay Area. As a former high school teacher and Returned Peace Corps Volunteer serving in Mozambique, my work has always centered around people, relationships, culture and identity, advocacy, care, and the stories that need telling. As a therapist, these are the values that guide my work.
My work is depth-oriented, relational, and psychodynamic. I value your multiplicity, aim to meet you where you are, help make sense of your experience, and bring what’s unconscious into the conscious. I deeply value the relationship we develop in our work together and believe it's one of the greatest tools for healing.
I often incorporate somatic and mindfulness practices, grounding techniques, parts work, guided imagery, and both a trauma-informed & social justice oriented approach into my therapy. I enjoy working with symbolism, archetypes, metaphor, art, myth, and dreams as I believe they grant us access to profound and vivid material that words just…can’t.
Why This Work Matters to Me
I believe therapy offers us space to examine and find meaning in our lives, to step out from behind patterns and behaviors that no longer serve us, to reconnect with ourselves amidst the noise of the expectations that have shaped us, to seek repair and transform through corrective experiences, to process complex feelings, to establish a sense of grounding and clarity where there currently is none, and to grieve.
For this reason, it is a privilege to accompany clients as they uncover what has been hidden, tend to what feels fragmented, and discover new ways of being more fully alive.
