Brian Henderson, AMFT
Psychotherapist
(He/Him)
We heal in the presence of other humans. I bring my full humanity into the room with clients: as a partner, a friend, a writer, a swimmer, a lover of queer dancefloors and music, a gardener, and a UC-trained ecologist. My work is shaped by my experience as a gay man, by a decade-long relationship with chronic pain, and by an abiding love of the natural world. Clients describe my style as direct, engaging, warm, and sometimes poetic.
How I Work
I believe that the body and the present moment carry some of the most vital information for healing. Together we may draw on approaches such as EMDR, Generative Somatics, and mindfulness-based practices, while also attending to the deeper roots of pain in family, ancestry, and history. My work is kink-, gender-, and poly-affirming, and I hold awareness of the broader systems — cultural, ecological, and political — that shape our lives and struggles.
Why This Work Matters to Me
I know from my own experience how hard it can be to feel stuck — whether in the body, in identity, or in old cycles of relating. Therapy is a place to explore those impasses with curiosity, care, and courage. For me, the work is always about making more room for aliveness, connection, and meaning.
Psychedelic Therapy & Integration
For some clients, Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) offers a powerful companion to ongoing therapy. KAP can help loosen the grip of entrenched patterns and provide new perspectives on self and life. In our work, preparation and integration are essential — ensuring that insights from the medicine experience are carried back into your daily life and into the therapeutic process.
